Hi ya'll. Well, Ike is still a piece away. ("a piece" undetermined distance in the south. Distance it may be is uncertain As in: Bubba's place is just down the road a piece) Piece is usually a shorter distance than"yonder" depending on who is using it. But I digress. Ike's out yonder in the Gulf getting closer to Galveston(and there are soooo any little towns on the coast.) OLd town (East)Galveston has a seawall they have depended upon for yrs. Heck I remember sitting o it as a kid)The west side has no seawall. they showed the streets of w galv about 2 hours ago. at that time the streets were filling with water already. They expect huge surges. That old seawall may very well be breached this time. Huge surges are building up in front of Ike. There are also many offshore rigs out there. Gas will be going up once more as OPEC takes advantage(they announced a couple days ago they were"cutting back on production") Our pals, yep.
Sunny here.I interrupt Mom. Nothing resembling pawlitics on this blog, mom. Remember!? Now, AHEM, we all hope and pray and cross all crossables that evrybody will be ok. To those folks who stayed in all these little coast towns, well, after the city &town officials told you you'd be on your own, I'll pray for you and hope you don't have familyand pets you have put in harms way.
If you are interested ,Google Galveston, TX 1900. The singular most horrific huricane in our history. 6,000to 9,000 (about) killed.
The waves are now breaching the old sea wall. Hope it doesn't get destroyed. And Ike is at least 12 hours from landfall. And all our little coastal towns.(I'm quite fond of that piece of coast)
OK-Good news/ As the buses arrive, people have their pets with them! And the SPCA of McKinney or Dallas-I'm not sure who-sent a truck(large a/c truck)-to bring dogs/cats and some bunnies to the spca in McKinney so they wo uld be safe. They are of course adoptable while they are in McKinney..
Our lovely friend Thor gave us this award! Thank you Thor!!! We are honored to receive this form you. You are so sweet. And quite the handsome fellow. See for yourself at http://meupequeograndethor.blogspot.com/ (quite a mouthful,hu? I should have paid more attention in my 2 years of Spanish.) We love Thor's blog too. And so many more. We are going to sniff around. We aren't sure of the rules. We're not good with rules anyhow! We'll be back later to pass this on!
We're praying for everyone that Ike will hurt. We know he will at least take houses and businesses. We hope no lives.
Hugs
Sunny,Scooter&Jamie

Sunny, we hope you stay safe. We hope that bad Ike takes a hike!
And if you want to hear a good about that, look for The Duhks "Mighty Storm" or any of the other artists that did it!
We really hope all our furiends in Texas stay safe!

Congrats on the award - and PLEASE stay safe!
Love,
Ammy
Ok now that you have explained "a piece" maybe you should explain this...."can you please cut off the light?" Cut-off means turn off in the south....mainly Louisiana (where mommy lived for 5 years)
To answer your question. NO daddy has never had a "Y" but they have had many German Shorthaired Pointers.....mom says they are the same just different colors to her. That is why she doesn't want one. She love her Sadie but not the others....way to much work for her....especially since she gets left with the rearing (work) of the kid.

Congratulations on your award!
I love your blog too!
Paws crossed for you all!

It is so wonderful of you guys to offer a place for those poor folks and doggies. We are thinking of them all.
Catching up on your blog here now I am back in circulation (for however long.......).
A piece sounds similar to a un rato (spanish) which means er, a little something, eg a little while, a little bit, (distance, time, etc), I guess it's a quantitative word. And of course there is un ratito which is a smaller bit.
Hmmm, mistress tells me a piece has many meanings.

Wow, it sure is good that they got to take the animals out of harm's way, too! And the good people of the SPCA who met them and gave them a safe place to be.
