What do you think?

Jamie here. I wanted to do a different post today but am having trouble with %@#$**&^$#@#^&* loading of pictures.

AHEM so as briefly as I am able to relate this story, here goes. Several months ago I was putting gas in my car. I was approached by a man and a woman. Nope they were not looking spiffy, and I noticed they had a small dinged up car. (I'm not good at telling what kind of a car one is but this one was reddish)

In a nutshell, they were trying to get home to Arlington and the tank was on empty, something about their money being stolen. Well, I said let me see what I have. (I usually don't have much if any cash on me.)
I found(with change) $5.75 Told them I'm sorry it's all I've got. They thanked me effusively. Then I saw the woman going in to give the money. Along the way she asked others and I saw she was striking out. By now, my car is finished and I started to get into my car.
Well, I'm thinking how the heck far are they going to get on that. Got out of my car, went over to the guy and said, look I'm putting gas in your car with my card. Again, God Bless, Thank You. etc. So, I filled his tank. While they each gave me a hug, I just asked them to pay it forward if they ever had the chance.
I've been told by some that was stupid to do. "You don't have money to throw around like that. Yeah, I'll bet they "lost" their money...etcetc. " They may be right , BUT My thought is if you try to help with good intentions, that is what matters. And I still think someday some help will come to me when I need it....karma
So what do you think? What would you have done.
Now to figure out what the &*&^^%%$#@$^&* is the problem with pics. Dang it.
Have a great one,
Jamie (who doesn't think she was a "sucker" :)

We don't think you are a sucker. That was super kind of you to do for someone down on their luck. Kudos!

Well, this lady is super cautious. So I would say that you did the right thing as long as you felt safe - lots of other people around, daylight, and a strong sense of being comfortable. If it were a dark, isolated location, with no one nearby to help, I probably would have given them the cash and moved on. At the same time, I applaud you for your generosity and kind heart.

We think that MOST people are good, honest, and well intentioned. Folks spend way too much time reading about bad people and it causes them to distrust and miss out on a lot of life's opportunities. You absolutely did the right thing. I bet they will pay it forward for sure.

We are told to give not out of surplus, but out of what would go for our own needs. In that respect, you did the right thing.

But I would echo the cuations about your personal safety, and ask you to be careful.

And you never know, their situation could have been WORSE than what they were letting on!

I think, for what it is worth - you did the right thing.

I have been scrolling down the blogs and your post was the first one which made me "sit up" and look, read and digest.

Yes, you can only trust your "gut" feelings in this matter.

Although, being frivilous here, of course, and please don't take offence..........at my trite remarks..........just trying to lighten stuff up etc.

However, if it was a Man In A Kilt, my God, trust him with your life, your life savings and your general health.

He will do you the world of good. and more.

That was a very generous and kind thing for you to do, Jamie! We applaud you! Our mom would not have done the same thing. She's not as trusting of strangers as you are.

Love ya lots,

You did the right thing. Sometimes it is not easy to trust on strange people but sometimes you need to do kind things for others.

If I were able to at the time, I'd have done the same thing. The world needs more kind people who follow their hearts!

I've done the exact same thing and people have told me the exact same thing. And you know what? I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
